Wow! Term 1 has been a very busy one. We welcomed some children back to hedgehogs class and welcomed lots of new friends too. We are so proud of how amazingly well everyone has settled in.
We used all of our senses when exploring lots of different healthy foods. Some lovely descriptive words were used, such as ‘cold,’ ‘wet,’ and ‘slimy.’ It could be a bit tricky trying to cut the vegetables, but we saw great concentration, hand-eye coordination, and determination when learning this new skill.
With so much interest in exploring the food we moved on to making our own pumpkin soup! We made a list of ingredients, chopped up the veg, added it all to a big pot with stocked and waited for it to cook…. It was delicious and the children showed great pride and interest in preparing, cooking and eating their own food.
With Halloween approaching we explored decorating pumpkins, pumpkin carving, looking through the story ‘Pumpkin Soup’ as well as making spiders and hedgehogs with play dough.
We’ve been challenging our physical development when up on the MUGA using our core strength and gross motor skills. We are so lucky to have such big outdoor spaces to explore.
We also enjoy burning off energy in our soft play where we can take risks and challenge ourselves in a safe environment.
Our core story this term has been ‘Dear Zoo’. We have been learning the familiar phrases, taking turns to lift the flaps, animal names and noises as a well as acting out the story using props.
